Wondering what to do with that old pair of blue jeans that you haven’t been able to fit into for years, and that has consequently just been taking up space in your closet? Before you turn to the trash bin, you could consider donating the jeans to the Cotton. From Blue to Green denim drive to assist with building efforts in communities in need.
Bonded Logic is the company behind the creation of Ultra Touch Insulation; a fire, mould, mildew, and corrosion resistant type of batt insulation, 85% of which is composed from the cotton fibres found in blue jeans. This type of insulation is environmentally friendly; containing neither carcinogens nor formaldehyde and is 100% recyclable. It’s also itch-free.
The Cotton. From Blue to Green denim drive to date has received over half a million pieces of denim which is equivalent to 1.5 million square feet of Ultra Touch insulation! Due to this huge success, they are momentarily not collecting donations. But keep this cause in mind for the future, because blue jeans and insulation are two products that aren’t going anywhere.

Insulating with jeans is such a great reuse of a product that is bound to be threadbare eventually. Often jeans are distressed in manufacturing to the point that they are guaranteed to have a short life, which is good for jean insulation.
Hope to insulate my own home with jeans one day.
Thanks for reading the article and taking the time to comment, Jessica. It is definitely an interesting concept. You make a good point about so many pairs of jeans these days being ripped and frayed before they even leave the store. Lots of potential for the jean insulation industry!
